The annual tour of the Incogs in the West commenced this year at Bath, on Bank Holiday, August 3rd, when they encountered the Lansdowne C.C. Tho ground owing to want of rain was not in its usual good con dition, and scoring was consequently small, i ox and Tillard, however, played good innings for the visitors, who eventually won by 48 runs. Lascelles played well for Lansdowne. The second match, against Clifton, was drawn .in favour of the Incogs, their opponents hav- iug to get 404 to win, of which they made 63 for the loss of 2 wickets. Ford hit splendidly in the first innings of the Wanderers, and Avory and Tillard both played grandly in the second, the former giving no chance till he had passed the “ century.” The captain was also to the fore with 26 not out and 42. Cobbold bowled extremely well. Taylor and Wreford-Brown (of the Charterhouse XI.) played well for Clifton. At Torquay the Incogs secured a somewhat easy victory by 9 wickets, Tillard agaim pass ing the “ oentury,” though he was somewhat favoured by fortune. Fox played well, and rord finished the match by a magnificent sixer out of the ground, roland played an excellent innings for Torquay, and was un fortunate in being finely " thrown out ” by Ford, and Anderton scored steadily though slowly. * ° Cobbold and Tillaid made short work of South Devon at Newton Abbot, both bowling with great effect. R obb played a fine innings, but Bennett made great havoc with the other Incogs, who however won the match in one innings by 103 runs. At Exmouth a strong team had been col lected to meet the visitors, who, however would probably have won had time permitted’, rain on the first day causing considerable delay. ArundeU played two capital inniags for the home team and by his steadiness saved his side from defeat. Goldney, Groves and LeMarchand also scored well. For the Incogs Tillard and Avory were again the mainstay, and O. B. Martyn and Lingham lent able assistance. : The last match of the tour, at Sidmouth, proved most exciting. The home team, who were very strong, won the toss and scored 276 before they were dislodged, Nepean playing a steady but somewhat lucky innings of 124. Beaver and Ford opened well for the Incogs, and the first four wickets realised 138. The remainder, however, added only 18 runs, and a “ follow-on” was necessary. Two wickets fell quickly, but W. E . Martyn and Tillard put on 154 before they were parted, the former play ing a splendid innings, and with the lielp of a good 36 from Fox, Sidmouth were left 137 to get with an hour and 40 minutes to play. It was generally thought they would perform the task without difficulty, but Tillard bowled with great effect, the Incogs fielded finely and the wickets fell fast. As the last man came in, the umpire said “ last over, gentlemen.” The third ball lowered the stumps, and the Incogs were hailed winners on the stroke of time by 19 runs. Thus fitly ended the most successful tour the I.C.C. have ever had in the West. The team was a good one all round. Tillard, be sides his excellent batting, bowled extremely well, and Cobbold was also very good and effective. Fox and Wilson proved very useful changes. The fielding was good throughout, Avory at cover and in the long field, and Ford at the wicket particularly distinguished them selves. Everything went smoothly, and the captain hopes that next year he may have an equally pleasant and hardworking lot to manage. The scores of the matohes are subjoined. Seoond innings. INCOGNITI v.
