Cricket 1885
AUG. 6,1885. CRICKET; A WEEKLY RECORD OP THE GAME. 307 SO U T H G A T E R O V E R S TOUR . If exciting matches, cloudless skies with tropical weather, and true grounds with kind friends make enjoyable cricket, there never was a tour more successful than this one, for more closely contested games, finer or more scorching days, more perfect wickets or liberal hosts were never met with, The Rovers return their best thanks to their opponents generally, and to the 93rd H igh landers in particular, for the very great kindness and hospitality with which they were received; nor do they forget the Teutons, nor does the Captain forget the Members of his team, to whom, one and all, he expresses his obligations for their endeavours, by which he has been prevented having to say that through his fault matches were lost. E. S. Shaw, of Notts, umpired in his usual just and decisive manner, and fully sustained his well-known reputation for thorough impartiality. SOUTHGATE ROYERS v. PRIORY PARK.
