246 CRICKET; A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. J U L f g .is s s CHESHIRE v. DERBYSHIRE. After having all the worst of the first innings the Derbyshire eleven played up so well in the second hands that this match,! played at Stockport, on Friday and Satur day, was finally drawn in their favour. The favourable position of the game at the finish was mainly due to the good batting of Wood- Sims and Chatterton, who contributed 136 to Derbyshire’s second total of 235. Mr. Thomber and Wright played pluckily for Cheshire at the close, and it was mainly their stand which saved the game. The latter ,gqt 103 runs in the match without being out, an excellent performance. Brown was objected to by Derbyshire, as M.C.C. had disallowed his claim of residential quali fication, and he did not play. C heshire . First Innings. Seoond Innings.
