172 CRICKET; A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. j u n e 4 , i 885. CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY v. YORK SHIRE. The Cambridge eleven were seen to con siderable disadvantage in this match, played at Cambridge on Thursday last and two following days. Though they went in first on an excellent wicket but three of the team got double figures, and, indeed, eight of them were only accountable for an aggregate of seventeen runs The feature of the innings was the brilliant cricket of Mr. Bainbridge. His 63 was a faultless display of batting against good bowling. •When they went in again no one lu t Mr. IV'ck, who made his first appearance for the University this summer, offered any resist ance to the Yorkshire bowlers. He was in an hour and fifty-five minutes for his nine teen. No one else out Mr. Greatorex got more than three runs, and nine batsmen only contributed eleven runs to the poor total of 44. Hall and Ulyett made a good start for Yorkshire, and the first wicket fell with the score at 77. After this, though, no one did much except F. Lee and Grim- shaw, and at the end of the innings the c mnty was only 30 runs ahead. Peate took nine Cambridge wickets at a cost of 49 runs. Yorkshire won by nine wickets. AUTHENTICS v.
