THE SENIORS’ MATCH. MR. C. W . WRIGHT’S SIDE v. HON. M. B. HAWKE’S SIDE. Despite the slowness of the wicket from recent rains some good cricket was shown in the opening match of the Cambridge season on Thursday and Friday last. The two elevens were captained respectively by Hon. M. B. Hawke, tiie Captain, and Mr. C. W. Wright, the hon. sec. of the University Club. The chief features of the game were the scores of Messrs. Eaton and Brutton. The former, who represented Cambridge in the opening match of 1884, played steady and thoroughly sound cricket for his 88. Mr. Brutton, who is also one of the University football (Rugbj) team, also displayed good defensive cricket for his 85 for the other side. In the second venture of Mr. Wright’s side Mr. Forbes batted in creditable style. In this innings Mr. Reed took four wickets for eight runs. M r . C. W . W e ig h t ’ s S id e . First Innings.
