The Mayor (Aid. Hart) presided, and there was a large attendance. Resolutions were sub mitted pledging the meeting to do all in its power to further county cricket by adding to the committee and getting more subscriptions. Objection was taken that the public would not freely assist, in consequence of the arrange ment which existed with the Cricket Ground Company. The feeling was abroad that the club and the company were synonymous, and that in subscribing money for cricket they were simply supporting a company formed for a speculative purpose. Mr. Marriott, captain of the club, said that the arrangements made with the Aylestone Ground Company were that they should take all the receipts from whatever source, and indemnify the county club from any loss. The result had been that every year the company had been much out of pocket and they could not go on in the same way. For the future, however, the matter was in the hands of the club, and whatever money was raised as the result of that meeting would be applied to cricket. In the end a resolutionwas passed re-electing the old committee with power to add to their number, and calling on them to take measures to make the club for the future self-support ing.
