Cricket 1884
s e p t . i i , 1884. CEICKET; A WEEKLY EECOED OF THE GAME. 415 occasion. He went in first wicket down in the second innings of Yorkshire, and carried out his bat for 146 out of a total of 248. He gave a chance to Flowers at long off, when he had made 93, but in the very bad light Flowers lost sight of the ball. Otherwise there was no fault in his innings, which was in every way a brilliant display of batting. His hitting was throughout exceptionallybrilliant. Among his figures were three hits out of the ground for six. The ground, yesterday afternoon, as it dried after the railn was very difficult, and the Marylebone Eeven were all dismissed for 116, chiefly through the effective bowling of Emmett, who took six wickets for 31 runs.
