S90 CRICKET; A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. s e p t . 4, i 884. age to him. He is a very free bat, with strong punishing powers, and his hitting, particularly on the off side, is very clean, A little more defence would improve his play, but on a good vicket he is always sure to be of use and when set he scores very fast, He is, too, an excellent field, especially “ in the country.” As a slow round-arm bowler he has also occasionally proved effective, though with his high delivery he ought, perhaps, to have been even more useful in this department. Of late Gunn has acquired a high reputation as a football player. During the last two or three winters he has been one of the most prominent playing members of the Notts Football Club, which has played such an important part in the competition for the Football Association Cup. Last March ho attained the highest honours open to a footballer in the attain ment of a place in the International Matches of tho year, and both at Glasgow against Scotland, and at Wrexham against Wales he did excellent service for the English Eleven. Next week’s C ricket will contain a Portrait and Biography of W . A tte w e ll , of Notts. ¥ p E : ^ C 0 ^ E v B 0 0 K . Scores o f Matches will only be inserted if accom panied by a Postal Order for One Shilling. Care should be taken to use only one side o f the paper, and to write all figures and names distinctly. As the Editor reserves the right to return scores, the name and address o f sender should be added in every case. ST. BOTOLPH’S (NORTHFLEET) v, GREENHITHE. Played at Greenhithe on August 16. S t .
