374 *CRICKET?; A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. a u g . 28, im. Sheffield’s Eleven was over 50 runs. Hum phreys has also accomplished the remark able feat of taking all the wickets in an innings, viz., in a match for Brighton Brunswick against the full strength of Ardingly College, including Messrs. New ham, Bettesworth, Blackman and Brann. Humphreys is, without a doubt, one of the most useful all round players in Sussex. He is a very steady and, at times, most efiec- tive batsman. His lobs, which to some batsmen are most puzzling, are rarely ineffective, and he is, indeed, the best underhand slow bowler of the day. He is, in addition, a good field anywhere, and to his own bowling particularly smart. Our portrait is from a photograph by Gustav Schultz, of Brighton. Next Thursday’s C ricket will contain a portrait and biography of W . Gunn, of Notts. C. E. S tey * nb ’ XI. First Innings. - Second Innings. j P f l E : $ C 0 I p : B 0 0 K .
