The Derbyshire eleven suffered another defeat at Brighton yesterday, when Sussex beat them with seven wickets to spare. The home county won the toss, and ten of the eleven got double figures, Mr. New ham being the principal contributor with 69. Messrs. Barrington and Docker played well for Derbyshire, but the total only reached 175, and this necessitated a follow- on. In their second innings they made a better show, and thanks to the good cricKet of Messrs. Evershed, Sugg, and Wood-Sims, they put Sussex in with 80 to win. This number was got for the loss of three bats men, and the match ended as above stated. S u ssex . First Innings. W. Blackman,c Foster, E. J.
