When set there ara indeed few batsmen so dangerous. He has very good wrist play, but his hitting all round is very powerful, and, as he has plenty of pluck, hescores freely off any kind of bowling. At one time he was a little uncertain in the field, but he has of late shown a great improvement in this department, and has this season acquitted himself with great credit, particularly “ in the country.” It will, too, perhaps, not be generally known that he was tried once for Middlesex at the wicket.
