LANCASHIRE, The Kentish eleven followed up their suc cess Of yesterday at Derby, "with another victory, when they defeated Lancashire, at Manchester Neither county had its fa ll strength, but some very fair cricket was shown on both sides. Kent, who won the toss, made a bad start, but a useful stand by Mr. Christopherson and Wootton at the close of the innings, enabled them to reach a larger total than at one time seemed likely. In their first attempt Lancashire could do little against the bowling o£ Mr. Christopher- son and Wootton, and Watson’s 20 was the only (JoubJe figure. In the fellow-on, thanks to Mr. Roper, and in a lesser degree to Pill ing, Mr. Lancashire, and Ward, they made a much better show,..and Kent had to go in to make 146 to win. There seemed then some prospect of an interesting finish, but Lord Harris hit so brilliantly, and George Hearne and Mr. Jones lent such useful assistance, that the runs were got with seven wickets to spare.
