Cricket 1884

186 CRICKET; A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. JUNE 12, 1881. slightest mistake might have been fatal to the Gentlemen, was worthy of the highest praise. He is a very free bat, with great powers of hitting. He has, too, great strength of wrist, which he uses to the best effect, and on % fast wicket is very dangerous, his off- driving, in particular, being very hard and clean. He is, perhaps, rather too anxious to make runs at the start, and would be even seen to better advantage with a little more defenoe and care when the ground is at all slow. Though, at times, rather in clined to be slack, he is an excellent field anywhere, and a safe catch. JFflEvgC 0 I^E:B 00 K. Stores of matches must reach us by First Delivery on Tuesday morning, or they will have to wait till the following week. Pre ference will be given to the scores of Clubs arranging for the insertion of their matches throughout the season. One Shilling must be sent with each Score. ST. MARK'S v. ST. JAMES’ (HIGH BURY.)
