130 CRICSKET; A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. m a y 2 2 , m s 4. ball occasionally is extraordinary. His field is placed almost entirely on the on side, and now we believe, as a rule he is con tented if he has only two men on the off. As a batsman he has not a taking style, but his is not always an easy wicket to get, though he rarely makes many runs. He is a capital field anywhere, but particularly at point, where he is always smart and reliable. An injured hand has prevented his playing in England as yet, but on a fast wicket he is very likely to be of use, and indeed the Aus tralians themselves believe firmly that he will be successful under these conditions. ^ P E v ^ C e ^ E v B O O K .
