Some good cricket was shown in this, the first of the trial matches played in the Parks at Oxford, on Friday and Saturday last. The sides were Cap tained by M. C. Kemp and T. R. Hiue- Haycock,Captain and Secretary, respectively, of the University Club, but neither of them batted. H. B. Tristram, the Old Lorettoniau who was tried once for the eleven last year, played steadily for 55 for Mr. Kemp’* side. The feature of the first day’s cricket though, was the fine hitting of E.Money-VVigram, who played last year for the Gentlemen of Surrey. He went in at the fall of the sixth, and carried out his bit for 96, in which were thirteen fours and six three3. C. P. Wilson got 37 iu good forme for Hine Haycock’s side, but with tin exception of soma Vigorous hitting by G >drrey. there was little else of note. The matcj wai ultim ately drawn as under. M r .
