The Surrey Club opened its season as usual with the above match on the ground of the Broadwater Club at Godalming, on Thursday last. Mr. M. W . Marshall had secured the promises of a very strong eleven, but Messrs. Leslie, A. P. Lucas, and A. G Steel were not able to play at the last moment, and the side was consequently much weakened. Alexander and Boyle played for the Surrey Club. Jones, the Surrey bowler, re-appeared on the cricket- field after an absence of nearly two years. In the second innings of Broadwater h« took seven wickets for 26 runs. In the first Alexander had five wickets for 10 runs. The Surrey Club won by an innings and 82 runs. B roadwater C lub .
