A peil 10, 1883. CRICKET; A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. 43 THE NOTTS COLTS MATCH. The annual trial of the young players of Notts, postponed from Easter in consequence of the severity of the weather, was decided on the County Ground at Trent Bridge on Friday and Saturday last. The wicket was in excellent condition, and the scoring on both sides was above the average. Bean, of Sutton in Ashfield, scored well for the Colts both times, and his double performance against the bowling of Shaw, I1 lowers, Wright, .Miller, and Attewell, was most creditable, Brown, of Kimberley, and Riley* of Annesley, were the best batsmen of the rest. There was no bowling worthy of special note on their side. For the Eleven, Butler, Flowers, Gunn, Scotton, and Selby were prin cipal scorers. Flowers hit freely. The last named took ten wickets for 88 runs, Shaw nine for 31 runs. RAGLAN v. LOWESTOFT NONDESCRIPTS. This, the firstmatch of the season at Lowestoft, was played on the Downs on Saturday, April 7. From the Australasian . The tour of the third Australian Eleven terminated with their second defeat by the Hon. Ivo Bligh’s team, and the five following tables will show how each member of this famous band of cricketers stands in the batting and bowling averages against all the combinations they have met, including Alfred Shaw’s team of English professionals, with whom they played four matches—one in Sydney, one in Melbourne, and two in England. Every member of the team, save G. Bonnor, bowled, and H. Massie alone failed to get a wicket, while in batting H. Boyle and F. Spofforth were the only men who did not get into double figures. W . L, Mur doch and T. Horan scored over the century twice, the former 28G (not out) against Sussex County and 107 (not out) against the Orleans Club, at Twickenham; Horan 112 against the United North of England, at Chichester, and 141 (not out) against Gloucestershire County. H. Massie made 206 against Oxford University, G. Bon nor 122, and A. Bannerman 120 (both not out) against the I Zingari Club at Scarborough, and Percy M‘Donnell 147 against Shaw’s team at successful throughout. Shaw Wright Attewell M ills..
