Barlow’s eleven succeeded yesterday in re versing the resalt of the previous match with Emmett’s team, played last week at Holbeck. The return, which took place on the ground of the Batley Club, ended yesterday afternoon in an easy win for Barlow’s eleven, which was, as in the first match, composed of*Lancashire and Nottingham professionals, by 202 runs, after some excellent all-round cricket. The chief interest in the first “ hands'’ centred in the chances of the Yorkshiremen avoiding a follow- on, aud Hanison, the last batsman, who came in with one still wanting, just saved his side from having to follow their innings with only a single to spare. When Barlow’s eleven went in, eight of the best wickets were down for 119 runs. There wras then an outside chance of a good match, but Watson and Crossland hit with such extraordinary vigour that the aspect of the game was entirely altered, and the two last wickets more than doubled the total. Watson ultimately carried out his bat for an exceedingly well got s xty-eight. Emmett’s eleven were left with 334 to win in three hours ancl a half, but Watson and Nash bowled with such effect, that only Ulyett and Emmett made any lengthy stand, and as the total only reached 131, the Yorksbiremen were beaten by 202 runs. Cross land in his second innings made fourteen—three foursand a two—from one over of Peate.—Score and analysis. B a r lo w ’ s E le v e n . First Innings.
