SEPT. 13, 1883. CRICKET; A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. 3 8 9 THE STYGIAN W E EK . The above club commenced their “ Folkestone Week,” intended henceforth to be annual, on Monday last. Theweather was most unfavour able, it being almost impossible to stand, owing to the gale of wind, and the Stygians were un fortunate in having to bat in the worst of the weather. The bowling of Hoare andMr. Hinton is worthy of notice, the former’s analysis being 22 overs, 9 maidens, 29 runs, G wickets; and that of the latter, 16 overs, 5 maidens, 20 runs, and 4 wickets. Played at Shorncliffe September 7 and 8 , and resulted in a draw, Rain interfered with play on the second day and so drenched the ground, that the wicket had to be changed, much in favour of the batsmen. DOVER GARRISON. Played at Folkestone, on September 5 and 6 . Bain prevented play on Wednesday, and it was made by agreement a one-day match to be decided on the firet innings. For the Stygians, who won by 17 runs, the bowling of Hoare and the Rev. J. Bell was remarkably good. Mr. Bell’s analysis was 18 overs, 6 maidens, 33 runs, and 5 wickets ; and that of Hoare, 18.4 overs, 7 maidens, 29 runs, and 5 wickets.
