This result was, in a great measure, due to the very fine bowling of the young professional, Wootton. The fielding of the Kentish team was, all-round, excellent^ but Wootton’s bowling was the feature of the match, and it will certainly rank as one of the very best performances of the kind this season. In the two innings of Lancashire, he took 13 wickets at a cost of only 84 runs, an average of less than 6 £ runs. Lancashire had not its best eleven, but the batting was very disappointing. In all, only 383 runs were scored from the bat for 40 wicket's, an average of just over 9J runs. Score and analysis. K e n t . First Innings.
