The Lancashire eleven added another to their already good list of brilliant performances of the season, by defeating the Oxford University team at Manchester by an innings and 210 runs. The visitors had not their strength with their best bat,Mr.C.F.-Leslie, and their most dangerous bowler away, and they only made a poor show in both departments. In losing theto 3 s, too, they had all the worst of the luck, having to bat on a wicket all in favour of the bowlers after Friday’s rain. The feature of the long innings of Lancashire was the stand made by Mr. Tay lor and Robinson, who added 237 runs while they were together. Robinson’s score of 154 was in every way a brilliant performance. He gave no chance till he had made 141, and his hitting throughout was wonderfully clean and well timed. Among his figures was one six, eighteen fours, and seven threes. Mr. Taylor, whose first appearance it was this season for the County, also played fine cricket, ^.efc^ing 96 without a mistake. In Oxford’s second innings, Crossland took five wickets for 14 runs, an ex traordinary analysis. L a n c a sh ir e . Mr. A. N.
