. 174 v CRICKET; A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. ju n e u , im LANCASHIRE y. NOTTS. The Notts County eleven suffered their second defeat of the week at Nottingham on Friday last, when Lancashire beat them by nine wickets. Mr. C. W. Wright was unable to play for Notts, and Scotton was left out, it is said, to make way for Attewell. Lancashire had an advantage of 75 on the first innings, mainly through the ex traordinary luck of Mr. Hornby, who made 62 with several lives, one, rather a hard chance, by Attewell before he had scored. In their second innings Notts only made a poor show, and the whole team were dismissed for 92, Atte well being the chief contributor with a thoroughly well got 25. Pilling had a hand in the downfall of four of the Nottingham team, and Watson’s bowling was very effective, producing seven wickets at a cost of only 36 runs. The wicket crumbled up very much towards tho finish, and was all in favour of the bowler. Morley made his first appearance in this match since his return from Australia. N o ttin gh am sh ire .
