The Yorkshire eleven had a very easy win in their first match of the season against Kent, played at Dewsbury, on Thursday and Friday last. The Southerners, with Messrs. W. H. Patterson, W . Foord-Xelcey, H. \Y. Renny- Tailyour, and E. F. S. Tylecote away, had only an inferior eleven, and, in addition, they had all the worst of the wicket in losing the toss. Lord Harris was unlucky, being unable to secure more than three runs in the two innings, ar.d O’Shaughnessy, who alone got double figures each time, and Mr. R. S. Jones were the only batsmen able to make any stay against the Yorkshire bowlers. Yorkshire had a very easy victory by an innings and 131 runs. Peate and Harrison, the new fast bowler of the County, bowled unchanged throughout the match for Yorkshire. Score and analysis :— Y o r k siiir e .
