126 CRICKET; A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. m a y 24, m SURREY v. DERBYSHIRE. Surrey suffered its third successive defeat of the season yesterday, being beaten at Derby shire by 52 runs. Jones and Pooley were both absent from Surrey, and Mycroft from the Derbyshire eleven. Surrey had an advantage of 49 on the first innings, but through their wretched fielding on the second day threw their chances away. The bowling, except that of Barratt and M. Read, was of the poorest, and the batting of the tail as in the two previous contests very inferior. In Surrey’s second in nings, seven of the team together contributed 12 runs, D erbyshire .
