The Hertfordshire Eleven made a poor show against a not very formidable team of M.C.C. and Ground at Lord’s on Thursday and Friday last. In their two efforts they only scored 129 runs, and were beaten by an innings and 76 runs. In first innings of Herts Mr. Robertson got three wickets with successive balls. DERBYSHIRE. Derbyshire opened its season inauspiciously on Thursday and Friday lait at Manchester. Mr. L. C. Docker and Mycroft were both un­ able to play, and Mr. Maynard was also an absentee, so that the County was only poorly represented, Mr. G. Harper made his debut for Lancashire, and Brelsford, a fast bowler for Derbyshire. In the second innings of Derbyshire Mr. R. P. Smith scored 33 out of 35 runs while he was in.
