When the Nondescripts went tothewickets at Eltham on Saturday last, the ground was little better than a bog, and the getting of runs an impossibility ; so much so, indeed, that when, after twenty minutes’ play, the first wicket fell, the telegraph only showed a total of 5. Matters improved as the afternoon wore on, but two hours were occupied in securing 31 runs, of which Blaker, who carried his bat through the innings, claimed 16. The visitors were sadly deficient in bowi ng, and their score was easily passed by the home team, who, at the call of time, had lost only seven wickets for 70 runs. The effective bowling of li. Haywood deserves something more than a passing notice. N ondescripts . Mr. II. C. Blaker, not out.. 1G Mr. It.de C.Welch,c Lewin, b W. Haywood .. .. 2 Mr. A. J. Courage, b R. TliQ Nondescripts were doubly unfortunate on Saturday last, as in each case they suffered from the default made by those who had undertaken to play.
