This match was played at Weybridge, on Saturday, May 13, and was won very easily by the home team, who were exceptionally strong for the occasion. The Incogs might have made a better show, but unfortunately, as was remarked by a close observer, “ the catching department was conspicuous by its absence.” H. Ross, c A. This match was played at the Orleans Club, on Saturday, May 13, and resulted in a victory for the visitors by an innings and three runs, a somewhat un expected result, as on paper the Orleans Club had a very powerful team. Great credit is due to Messrs. Avory and Phillips for their steady play at a very critical period of the game. Mr. Martyn hit hard for his 41, and Mr. Hill carried his bat for a really first-class innings of 39; the fielding of the visitors was above the average, the catch of Mr. Udal at long leg that disposed of Mr. Murdoch was a very brilliant one. For the home team Messrs. Massie and Murdoch exhibited the best form, the former’s style will compare favourably with the best of our English cricketers. Mr. Spofforth managed to get a lot of work on, and was as conspicuous as ever for his fast yorkers. His four wickets were obtained at a cost of 70 rims. Mi\ Bulpett was well on the spot throughout.
