DERBYSHIRE. Derbyshire had a very unsuccessful season. The card consisted of liome-and home engagements with Lancashire, Yorkshire, and Sussex. Of the six fix tures five were lost; the only win was that in the second encounter with Sussex. Mycroft bowled very successfully, but otherwise the cricket all round was only moderate. Mr. L.C. Docker hit freely against Sussex, but he apparently had not the same practice as in 1881, and altogether was a disappointment. Foster hit very well in the closing match of the season, but generally the batting of the eleven was unreliable. A colt named Cropper, however, made a promising debut. He proved himself useful both with bat and ball, and bids fair to be an acquisition to the eleven. BATTING AVERAGES. T Times Most Most in Ave- not out. ' in inn. match, rage. Barriugton, G.
