1122 CRICKET; A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. June 29 , 1882 . •M.C., SANDHURST, y. E.M.A., WOOLWICH. Played at Woolwich on Friday and Saturday, le<une 23 and 24. Both teams being unusually trong, great interest was evinced in the result, iandhurst having won the toss, elected to bat on a perfect wicket. The first wicket fell for 20 runs, **ut Messrs. Ward and Oates carried the score up to ^90 before they were parted, when Mr. Oates was l'aught at the wicket for a first-rate innings of 131, Jlvhich extended over four hours. Finally, after patting six and ahalf hours, Mr. Ward waswell caught pyt the wicket for a magnificent innings of 233, [fcvhich was equally remarkable for sound defence jjind brilliant hitting. The Sandhurst innings Klosed for the enormous total of 489. The fielding tpf Mr. Cooper at point was beyond all praise. ^Woolwich began well, but fell off afterwards, and were all out for 164, Messrs Haggard, Norris, and Adair showing to most advantage. With three hours left, and 325 runs to save the innings, Woolwich followed on, and were all out at the (stroke of seven, amidst much excitement, for 206, of Iwhich Messrs. Bonham Carter and Currie had .made 95 by steady cricket. The bowling of Messrs. 'Kaye and Leslie for Sandhurst was steady and tgood throughout both innings.
