A most exciting finish was the result of this match at Lord's on Thursday and Friday last. j e one had only a weak eleven, but Scotton and Flowers were both left out of the county team, and the former represented M.C.C. with consider able success, as will be seen. Until almost the close there was nothing worthy of particular note m the batting on either side. With 164 to win Notts lost its sevgn best wickets for 54, and the match seemed over. Mills aud Barnes', however hit away so freely, that 99 were added before they were separated, and Notts won a most exciting match by one wicket, play having been extended until ten minutes to eight o’clock. Alfred Shaw 111 the first innings of M.C.C. was credited with 35 maidens out of 40 overs. T M.C.C. First Linings, C. Booth, run ou t.. ............... 12 J. S. Russel, b Wright .. !! 5 C. F. H.
