By the autumn of 2005, he found himself leading his players in a dispute with the Zimbabwe Cricket Union; after receiving threats to himself and his family he resigned from Zimbabwean cricket. Surprisingly, he was unable to find opportunities in the first-class game in either England or South Africa. He represented Namibia as an overseas player in the South African Provincial three-day and one-day competitions in 2006/07 and was extremely successful.
