ICC Intercontinental Cup and Shield
SCOTLAND v KENYA Some 48 mm of rain fell almost continuously over a forty-hour period before the match was due to start, so it was not surprising that the ground was under water and that there was no play on the first day. By the start of day two, superb efforts by the groundstaff had improved conditions considerably, but a pitch inspection at 11.00 am revealed that it was still too wet for play to commence. By 2.00 pm the pitch was considered playable for club cricket but not suitable for an international match; play was therefore abandoned for the day. The weather on the third morning showed no improvement. The rain had returned overnight but by mid morning had reduced to a drizzle. Nevertheless by 12.35 am it was clear that no play would be possible. Further heavy rain overnight, when some 20 mm fell, meant that at the start of the final day there was standing water over much of the outfield. The umpires had no alternative but to abandon the match. Under the competition regulations, both sides were awarded ten points. 160 ICC Intercontinental Cup 2007-08
