A fifth area applies to a small number of players from the United Arab Emirates where the problem is the reverse of that in The Netherlands, namely whether their names should adopt the local two-name form, e.g. Shadeep Silva instead of E.H.S.N.Silva as he was known when he played first-class cricket in Sri Lanka. The CricketArchive approach is to retain the format of surname and initials, which has the added advantage that it is easier to search for his overall career record of cricket world wide. The final problem is more general and relates to names which are transliterations of a non-English script. This often results in a range of spellings. Thus, the cricket captain of Afghanistan has appeared variously as Nowroz Mangal and Nowrose Mangal but over the last two years the spelling seems to have settled on Nawroz Mangal. The web site of Afghanistan Cricket is extremely inconsistent in its spelling of names. In all cases where alternative name styles or spelling exist, these are given in the Player Profiles. This should enable readers to cross-reference with internet sites and local in-country practice where a different name is used.
