The batting order is from the Star and is preferable to that in SB, although both have Lord, as the professional, implausibly listed last. SB and many other sources give the venue as Oldfield Bray, as if ‘Bray’ were part of the name of the ground. John Goulstone has established that it was Old Field, Bray. That is, the ground was located in the parish of Bray, which in the 18th century included the southern half of the town of Maidenhead, where the Oldfield Club was based. Not until 1894 was Maidenhead created as a separate parish. 173
