Bowling O M R W O M R W Beldham 2 1 Walker 3 1 Umpires: Close of Play: 1st day: ; 2nd day: . MCC had Beldham and Walker as given men. The score is from the Gazetteer & New Daily Advertiser , signed ‘S Britcher’. The batting order it gives for MCC is in order of first-innings dismissal and shows Walker at 8 although he scored 107 of a total of 193. Since he was known as a slow scorer, this very strongly suggests that he opened. At any rate, the order above is a great improvement on the version in SB, which has century-makers Beldham and Walker listed last because they were given men. (Variant) SB and Bentley indicate one of the MCC team by a dash but other soutces confirm the missing name as T.Ingram. Also, SB has the Earl of Darnley in place of Brudenell. 163
