Cricket's Historians
138 Roy Webber and the Society of Cricket Statisticians refer to any new record without a quick glance at one of those numerous pages’. Of course the grey beards delighted in finding fault. Of course it was a pity that the status of matches wasn’t cleared prior to publication, but one has to remember it took the Association of Cricket Statisticians (and Historians), ten years of arguing and countless hours of research to produce a list which was largely agreed by cricket statisticians. To compile a book as comprehensive as Webber’s was a great achievement – just like Ashley-Cooper, Webber was a workaholic.
