WARNER, Pelham The game’s leading apostle as player, captain, writer, journalist, selector and administrator. Middlesex batsman from 1894 to 1920, he captained the first MCC team to Australia in 1903-04, led a second team nine years later but played only one innings on the tour due to ill health, and co-managed the Bodyline tour of 1932-33. After carrying his bat through the innings on his Test debut, his remaining 14 Tests were disappointing, averaging just 23.92. WOOLLEY, Frank Supreme left-handed Kent stylist, the second highest run-scorer in first-class cricket history, who also took over 2,000 wickets with his left-arm orthodox spin, and made over 1,000 catches, mainly at slip. In 64 Test matches between 1905 and 1934 he scored 3,283 runs at 36.07 and captured 83 wickets at 33.91. YOUNG, Dick Enthusiastic amateur batsman and wicket-keeper with Sussex, who toured Australia in 1907-08, appeared in two Tests and made six dismissals. United States KING, Barton America’s greatest cricketer. One of the pioneers of swing bowling, he toured England three times with the Philadelphians in 1897, 1903 and 1908, with enormous success.
