N ews fo r use in this column must reach the office by Tuesday night. Kensington which has just lately gained consecutive victories over South Hampstead, Pallingswick, and Ealing, so far has an unbeaten record this season. H. D. Taylor, late of the Sunderland C.C., who recently came to London, is an acquisition in the bowling line. Last Saturday, going on against Ealing, he took five wickets for8 runs in six overs. It looks as if he will be heard of again. On June 10th, playing an Inter-Hospital Cup Tie v. St. Thomas’, Guy’s dis posed of Thomas’ for 83 and made 305. (T. H. Joyce 63, R. B. Stamford 53). The last wicket put on 80. On June 11th, v. Surbiton, Surbiton made 198, and Guy’s got the runs for six wickets in about two hours. J. H. Bettington contributed 100 not out, with only one difficult chance to mid-off. Surbiton very courteously played a few minutes over time, in order to allow Bettington to complete his century, as at time he was only 92. The Granville (Lee) C.C. had three teams going last Saturday. The strongest played v. Hampstead, and were beaten by abDut 36 runs, F.R.Spofforth takingsevenwickets forthe home team. W. Edwards for the visitors played well for 41. In the other two matches Gran ville were successful. That v. Croydon at Lee was a very e isy win, thanks to an excellent score of 115 by F. E, Lander. In the other match at Sidcup the last wicket of the home team fell almost at the point of time. The Streatham Club, under the charge of a new hon. sec., E. C. Bambridge, has had a record of unbroken success this season. So far it has played thirteen matches, of which two have been drawn and all the rest won. The Richmond Club has also been making an excellent show this year. The only defeat, unless we are mistaken, has been at the hands of Beckenham, at Beckenham. W. J. P. Dodgson, who played last year for Dulwich, and is now living at St. Margaret’s, has proved a great acquisition, scoring consistently well. The Farnham Club has a unique record this summer, having closed its innings four times in succession, and won on each occasion. Last Saturday G. F. Elliott, the old Surrey professional, did a good bowling performance against Woking. He delivered 9 overs and four balls for 13 runs and eight wickets. Cane Hill Asylum did a big performance in the way of fast scoring on their own ground against St. Thomas’s Hospital last Saturday. rl he first wicket produced 225 runs, and in all 401 were made for four wickets in three hours aud five minutes. Dr. Kidd, a reliable run- gettergot 135, andM.Fripp, who is a good bats man, 147. The Rev. J. G. Crawford wa3 still in at the finish with 56 runs to his credit. C. J. R.
